A New Journey Begins

Jan 2026 — Mar 2026
In 2026, I am honored to collaborate with Longhua Hui, creating a site-specific public art project unfolding across more than ten locations within the district.Drawing from the visual language of Chinese shadow puppetry and scroll painting, the project brings images out of the picture plane and into the city, allowing art to be encountered through walking, time, and light. This is not a single scene, but a journey—one that gradually reveals itself across spaces where history and contemporary life meet.
At the heart of Longhua Hui, a lawn site opens into a dialogue between past and present.
Two horses stand in quiet balance, facing the pagoda and the surrounding cityscape, connected through a scroll-like spatial composition. As daylight shifts into evening, light and shadow redraw their forms.
The installation holds a moment of stillness, where movement is suggested rather than performed—a conversation between the ancient temple nearby and the rhythm of the city today.
Along the street-facing paths of Longhua Hui, I created two series of glass sticker works.

Here, horses move among pomegranate and lychee branches, weaving through layers of fruit and foliage. The red fruits stack and surround the figures, symbolizing abundance and completion.

When illuminated, the glass surface becomes warm and translucent, allowing the imagery to soften, glow, and slowly merge with its surroundings.
Near Longhua Temple, a horse draws a small carriage beneath the temple grounds. The scene suggests travel, transition, and continuity—a passage moving calmly through a place shaped by centuries of history.Set against the temple architecture, the work frames a moment where ancient and contemporary timelines briefly align.
Magpies appear throughout the site, circling branches and leaves as if suspended in mid-flight.Pomegranate trees expand into a symbolic forest, wrapping the architecture with natural rhythm.Rather than being fixed to one point, these elements drift through the space—connecting entrances, corners, and thresholds—so that movement itself becomes part of the viewing experience.
Across the district, birds are dispersed in different scales and groupings. Some hover near architectural edges, others gather above pathways or cluster around openings.By repeating and scattering these forms, the site becomes animated—not through spectacle, but through gentle circulation, where nature-inspired imagery quietly accompanies everyday urban movement.
Smaller glass installations echo the idea of unfolding scrolls.Birds, fruits, and branches appear suspended between layers,as if hovering within the open space of a painting. These details are distributed across the site, revealing themselves through distance, reflection, and changing light—allowing the work to be discovered gradually, step by step.
This project invites viewers not only to look, but to walk, pause, and return. As the city moves, the imagery unfolds—marking the beginning of a new journey.
